What is included in
Mindful Movement?

Mindful Movement eliminates the cause of unnecessary pain

while nourishing Health's foundation.

Every movement is guided by the wisdom of Nature,
and over 14 years of professional education and experience -

tailored to support you in embodying

that which nourishes life!

Research-based health domains we may incorporate into our assessment.

Your visit begins with our health-systems interview,
where we ask questions about your main goals for the visit and assess progress from previous sessions and on the primary goals we have agreed on working toward.

We affirm the positive changes you are making, offer feedback to any questions or hiccups you have, listen to your observations, and offer additional education that helps you take the next best steps for your health.

Mindful Movement can be practiced in our office, or outdoors.

While generally we try to visit outdoors, as most can benefit from more outdoor time - we adapt to weather and patient preference, meeting indoors as is best fit.

After the progress review and habit-strengthening,
we will then preview the session for the day,
and modify according to patient input.

Mindful movement programs are custom fit to the patient's fitness goals, preferences, and needs.  They include foundational exercises from tai chi and medical healing arts, such as modified or tai chi walking, balancing on one leg,
and the tai chi 13 postures, although may also include more familiar exercises such as modified floor or wall push-ups, gentle weight-training,
and hip-strengthening exercises such as crunches and leg-lifts.

Mindful movement is unique in that it incorporates meditation -
internally-focused scans to strengthen learned posture-habits.

This improves circulation, protects the joints, and settles the mind,
increasing clarity into the most helpful decisions for life.

Our time-tested program also helps with embodying the mental postures that - when mastered - turns mindful movement into an exquisite InSight-Generating Flow -

naturally lifting up body, mind, and life.

The program may not be easy,
Without challenge it will not bear fruit.
Yet we have forever faith,
that happiness is the pursuit.

While visits start gently with warm up exercises,
they may progress into a lightly challenging activity such as modified tai chi walking - a nourishing and simple exercise that develops balance and coordination.

The body benefits from moderate challenge, and while we try to maintain the optimal challenge, the last part of the visit will often include a harder challenge - such as achieving a record time standing on one leg; or modifying an activity to be more challenging - usually requiring 100% Focus.

We'll then explore any additional observations the patient has had,
and share any additional feedback we feel will be helpful.

This challenge activity is - time allowing - followed with a sitting meditation, giving time to relax the tissues, integrate the day's learning, and to return to stillness.

Practice Structure
As one skill is close to being mastered,
or well-learned enough, we'll preview the next step,
incorporating it as the prior learning is made solid.

We focus on exercises that teach postural principles that may be incorporated into standing, walking, sitting, and other exercises
to make them more healthful, and relaxing -

gaining the benefits of improved circulation, relaxation, and meditation.
